Did you know there are initials etched into handmade bricks on the North Carolina Governor's Mansion in Raleigh of the convicts who helped build and complete the mansion in 1891? Construction of the mansion began in 1883, and the first occupants were Governor Daniel G. Fowle, the 46th governor of North Carolina, and his family.

As part of the American Heart Association's effort to promote healthy living, National Walking Day began in 2007, and is celebrated the first Wednesday in April to remind you about the health benefits of walking. You are encouraged to take a 30 minute walk - and the hope is for you to continue one of the simplest, most valuable things you can do for your health and well being.
Here are some great ways for you to make your 30 minutes more enjoyable:
Make sure to stretch your muscles
Make sure you have good posture
Wear comfortable clothes
Drink plenty of water
Move your arms
So join the effort, and plan to do something great for yourself tomorrow - April 6, National Walking Day - and don't forget to invite a friend.

It was on this day, April 3, in 1930 that a High Point company, Thomas Built Buses, was incorporated in North Carolina. People the world over recognize the bright yellow school buses that transport children to and from school. A Thomas Built Bus is a part of the Bumper to Bumper exhibit at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer.
